The Yugen Dress. Constructed with folds of luminous β€˜Naia’ satin, this gown is simple but statuesque. The high neckline is the perfect counterpoint to the completely exposed back, and the subtle underbust seam and diagonal darts at the small of the back provide extra detail. An ethical, vegan alternative to silk, this sublime material is made from fibres taken from pine and eucalyptus forests which are sustainably managed to ensure no deforestation of ancient and endangered woodland. Fastened at the nape of the neck with 24k gold filled hook and eye clasps. Yugen is an untranslatable Japanese word which means β€˜the emotion inspired by a profound, mysterious beauty’.

Fabrics:

Outer: β€˜Naia’ satin, a natural cellulosic fibre produced using pine and eucalyptus trees, in a safe, closed-loop process where solvents are recycled back into the system for reuse. Naia is Oeko-Tex certified and is made without hazardous chemicals, has an optimized, low-impact manufacturing process with a low tree-to-fibre carbon and water footprint, and is classed as biodegradable and compostable.

Lining: organic bamboo charmeuse organically and ethically produced using a closed-loop system; all solvents and water used are then cleaned and re-used. An Oeko-Tex certified, natural fibre, biodegradable and breathable.

Sewn with organic cotton thread.
